Think Big Academy provides online group tutoring for students in Years 3–10. This policy explains what personal information is collected from parents, guardians, and students, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices available. Think Big Academy is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Information collected

Think Big Academy collects information directly from parents and guardians when you:

Submit an enquiry or trial booking form on the website (parent/guardian name, phone number, email address, and your child's year level);
Book or attend an onboarding call or session (scheduling details, and anything shared about your child during that call);
Log in to the Parent, Student, or Teacher portal (login credentials, and the session notes, progress records, and Big Five skill data generated as your child attends classes);
Make contact directly by email, phone, or SMS.

Personal information is not knowingly collected directly from children without a parent or guardian's involvement — enrolment and account access are managed by the parent or guardian.

How information is used

Personal information is used to:

Respond to enquiries and arrange trial lessons and onboarding calls;
Send booking confirmations and appointment reminders by SMS and email;
Deliver tutoring sessions and maintain accurate session and progress records;
Provide access to the Parent, Student, and Teacher portal;
Communicate about your child's enrolment and progress;
Improve the teaching program and website.

Personal information is never sold, and it is not shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Who information is shared with

Think Big Academy uses a small number of trusted service providers to operate. Each only receives the information it needs to perform its function:

SMS and email delivery — to send booking confirmations and reminders;
Video conferencing — to host live onboarding calls and group sessions;
Scheduling — to manage bookings for onboarding calls;
Cloud hosting and data storage — to securely store booking and session records.

These providers are only permitted to use this information to deliver services to Think Big Academy, not for their own purposes. Information may also be disclosed if required by law.

Data storage and security

Personal information is stored electronically with reputable cloud service providers and protected with reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, but reasonable steps are taken to protect the information held from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access.

How long information is kept

Personal information is retained for as long as it's needed for the purposes described in this policy, including for as long as your child is enrolled and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping purposes. You can request deletion of your information at any time, subject to any legal obligations to retain it.

Cookies

The Parent, Student, and Teacher portal uses a single essential cookie to keep you securely logged in. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used on the website.

Access and correction

You can request access to the personal information held about you or your child, or request a correction, at any time by emailing tba@thinkbigacademy-edu.com. Requests will be handled within a reasonable timeframe.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how your personal information has been handled, please make contact first so it can be resolved directly. If the response isn't satisfactory, a complaint can be lodged with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
